Rebar Detailer' Checklist

DETAILER' CHECKLIST

           Project name

           Drawing Title (Whatever shown on the page will be the title, Foundation reinforcing plan R01, Sections R02, Elevations R03, etc.)

           Read all the notes, pay attention to Lap splice needed, sometimes you have to follow the table for psi. Sometimes 48 diameters. Whatever it is. Please pay attention to it.

           Study concrete structure well and visualize it

           Show Elevation Marks, for slabs and top of walls,

           Show top of footing elevations,

           Show rebar in footings, not just a note saying 3 bars at 30’-0”. Also, ask for the available stock length for the project. Some times job site is not available for long bars.

           Show lap splice dimensions in a lot of places. It is ok if you missing a couple but most of the time you can even see one lap splice is shown.  I know you smart, you can understand everything on the drawing. But Foreman at the field doesn’t have the experience you have. He is slower and he doesn’t have time to go one page to another page. Our job is to help them to understand easily. Also, Show lap splice table on every page for the elements of that page only.

           Show elevations for every step in footings, if they are the same 1 is enough.

           Elevations for every wall, every grade beams,

           Show Section for, every different wall, every grade beam type, every column,

           Concrete clearance need to be shown in all sides for every section,

           Show Dowels development length dimensions,

           Don’t forget corner bars, and follow typical corner bar detail for the project you working on,

           Super Structure Columns, every floor needs a key plan and floor to floor column elevations with sections,

           Super Structure shear walls, every the floor needs key plan and floor to floor shear wall elevations with sections,

           Super Structure slabs, separate drawing for top and bottom reinforcing and separate drawing for additional rebar, show layer mark on drawings which layer 1st. Usually 1st layer  short way bottom,2nd Layer  long way bottom, 3rd Layer long way top,  4th layer short way top

           Bending schedule for every page, just for the rebar shown on that page.

           Cut Sheets, (Bar List), footings with wall dowels, please.
